The results of Superstorm Sandy were devastating in New York City, including 33 of NYCHA’s 326 developments. Twin Peaks performed Mechanical Systems inspections for the NYCHA Redfern Houses project. The $123 million recovery and resilience project at the Redfern Houses in Far Rockaway, Queens helped about 1,500 residents.

This project not only restored the damages, but made the buildings stronger to endure future storms. This project included roof replacement at all nine buildings; installation of new security cameras; installation of improved door security access systems; replacement of exterior lighting and stairway lights; installation of new sprinkler systems; rehabilitation of three playgrounds; restoration of the underground electrical wiring system; flood protection; restoration of the roofs of all the residential buildings; building a new child care / community center building; and reparation of 30 of the first-floor apartments damaged by Sandy. The new day care, community center, and playground reconstruction will enhance the quality of life for parents and children. The security cameras would ensure the safety of the residents.
