Twin Peaks participated in the $550+ million project at Red Hook Houses in Brooklyn.
Hurricane Sandy wrecked the roofs, the senior center, and the electrical system and boilers at Red Hook Houses; this led to weeks of power outages in the housing complex.
The Red Hook Sandy Recovery and Resiliency project is the largest venture that NYCHA has undertaken. The project benefited over 6,000 residents; the quality of life of the residents has been enhanced. Some aspects of the project scope include the installation of new boiler equipment, floodproofing measures, complete roof replacement, lighting upgrades on site, installation of CCTV cameras, renovation of playgrounds impacted by construction, the rebuilding and enhancement of retail spaces, construction of new annex buildings to raise new MEP equipment above the FEMA flood level for individual buildings; replacing the exterior lighting units; reconstruction of the senior center; and building of raised courtyards to provide flood-protected building entrances.

The project resulted in an improved standard of living for the residents. Additionally, the renovated playgrounds gave the children a nicer space to play, and the project is expected to create permanent and temporary jobs. The project was vital for the Red Hook Houses development to protect it from the possibility of future disastrous events.
